We regret to inform you that our director and friend, Frank Labato, passed away on March 27 at Hartford Hospital after a prolonged illness.

Frank came to the University in 1988 and was named Director in 1989. He holds an M.S. degree in Environmental Health from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). He serves on the Environmental Health and Safety, Laboratory Safety, Laser Safety Committe, and Radiation Safety Committees.
