Valerie worked for the Department of Environmental Safety as a student intern in the late eighties. She received a B.S. degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UConn and from there began to work in the field of industrial hygiene as a consultant. In 1999, Valerie returned to UConn as an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist. Her specialty areas include hazard communication, personal protective equipment, asbestos and noise.
